2023 Aurosa Pinot Gris Futures

The western most twenty four rows of our Pinot Gris vineyard began to show a genetic transformation in 2010. the skins of the grapes dramatically shifted in color, sometimes displaying patterns of different colors on individual grapes. This visual clue drove us to realize these changes were offering something exciting and new. Briefly exposing the skins to the grape must at the start of the winemaking process yields this wines glowing peach hue.

TASTING NOTE
Aurosa showcases a glowing peach hue hinting at the lithe hibiscus and rose hip tea tannins. Stone fruit, citrus, and floral herbaceous tones build a generous palate and a softly layered texture.

HARVEST NOTE
The fruit was picked at night then destemmed at the winery. Juice remained on the skins for 72 hours before lightly pressing and transferring to 100% neutral French oak barrels and 500L puncheons.  Primary fermentation and malolactic fermentation took place spontaneously. The wine rested on the lees for six months to build texture and flavor.
